MOHALI: The administration has issued orders for initiation of criminal proceedings against those jumping home quarantine. Even people visiting those under home quarantine will face criminal action, said deputy commissioner Girish Dayalan.
Dayalan said the move was triggered by 60 breaches reported so far from the district. "Reports were received and since it posed serious risk to public health and safety, criminal proceedings became imperative. We will check this by geo-fencing through Cova app, affixation of poster outside the residence for information of the neighbours and reporting through them. Teams will also keep random checks at such houses."
Emphasising that the threat of coronavirus infection has not diminished, rather it has become more pronounced, he warned against a sense of complacency.
The DC also ordered synchronisation of rapid response and field surveillance teams to ensure contact tracing, medical help, shifting of patients and their care as well as strict enforcement of home quarantine. In order to ensure compliance of home quarantine norms, the DC emphasised real time dissemination of data of travellers coming to the district through air, train and road. These travellers will be medically screened.
On the issue of travellers from outside, the DC said five nakas from where in-bound travellers enter the district should be revamped.
