THANE: Private doctors here have sought martyr status and extension of Rs 50 lakh life insurance cover for colleagues involved in treating Covid-19 patients.
The proposal was made by Indian Medical Association's Thane joint secretary Dr Santosh Kadam on behalf of state colleagues, justifying how 44,500 practitioners were putting in equal effort in tackling coronavirus like government counterparts. Kadam raised the issue with deputy CM Ajit Pawar and proposed referring to private doctors as 'Covid warriors'.
