Coronavirus LIVE Updates: Tamil Nadu Records Over 3,700 New Cases and 68 Deaths in 24 Hours

Centre Gives 100 Ventilators to Himachal Pradesh | The Centre has provided 500 ventilators to Himachal Pradesh free of cost to fight the coronavirus pandemic, according to an official. He said 178 were transport ventilators and the rest intensive care unit ventilators. CM Jai Ram Thakur had expressed concern over ventilator shortage during a meeting the PM and the Health Minister.

12,000+ Covid-19 Cases in Nepal | Nepal has registered 554 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the nationwide COVID-19 tally to 12,309, the health ministry said. As many as 434 men and 120 women tested positive for COVID-19 during tests conducted at 22 health labs across the country in the past 24 hours.

3,713 Cases in Tamil Nadu | Tamil Nadu records 3,713 new Covid-19 cases today. Of these, 1,939 were reported in Chennai alone. As many as 2,737 patients were discharged today. A total of 68 fatalities were recorded today.

The 10,000 bedded COVID-19 care centre at Radha Soami Beas is the largest of its kind. I pray to God that number of COVID-19  patients remain less and the beds remain unutilized. Indian Railways has provided 30,000 bedsheets and pillow covers to the Centre: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy 

Central Team Visits Thane | A Central team visited Thane district to review the COVID-19 situation and told local authorities to concentrate on reducing the mortality rate from the infection. The team, which included Joint Secretary in the Union Health Ministry Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Civil Affairs Kunal Kumar among others, met local officials led by Thane civic chief Vipin Sharma.

Chandigarh Covid-19 Cases | Three new Covid-19 cases have been reported in Chandigarh today, taking the total number of cases to 427. There are 86 active cases and 335 patients have been cured till date: Health Department, Chandigarh

Indonesia Covid-19 Cases | Indonesia reported its biggest daily increase in coronavirus infections with 1,385 new cases, taking the total to 52,812, a health ministry official said. He also said there had been 37 more coronavirus-related deaths, taking the total number of fatalities to 2,720.

Thane BJP Legislator Tests +ve | A BJP legislator from the Thane district of Maharashtra has tested positive for COVID-19, a civic health official said. The 40-year-old legislator had tested positive for the disease couple of days ago and is presently undergoing treatment at a hospital in neighbouring Mumbai, the official said.

Govt Doctor in Karnataka Dies | A 29-year-old doctor working at a primary health centre in Karnataka's Belagavi district died after contracting the novel coronavirus. The government doctor was admitted at a private hospital in Bengaluru where he died on Thursday noon. According to a statement from Fortis Hospital, the doctor was brought to the hospital for conservative management of acute liver failure. Read Revathi Rajeevan's report here

Must Try to Increase Daily Testing Capacity to 25,000: UP CM | Yogi Adityanath expressed satisfaction over the daily COVID-19 testing capacity in the state reaching the 20,000 mark, and said the target should now be to increase it to 25,000 each day, an official said. At a meeting with senior officials, the chief minister stressed on encouraging industrial, commercial and business establishments to set up COVID-19 helpdesks to keep people safe from the virus, Additional Chief Secretary Awanish Awasthi said.

8 States Contributed to 85.5% Active Cases | Eight states, including Maharashtra, Delhi and Tamil Nadu, contributed 85.5% of the active COVID-19 caseload and 87% of the total deaths due to the disease in India, according to the Union Health Ministry. India has reported five lakh COVID-19 cases with the worst single-day jump of 18,552 cases on Saturday. The death toll has climbed to 15,685.

24 SP Leaders Booked for Defying Social Distancing Norms | Twenty-four Samajwadi Party leaders, including its district unit president, were booked for allegedly defying social distancing norms while protesting against the fuel price hike, police said. The party leaders had staged a demonstration here on Friday during which they flouted social distancing norms, Superintendent of Police S Anand said.

Nanded Congress MLA Tests Positive | A Congress MLA from Nanded district of Maharashtra tested coronavirus positive morning, a top district official said. He was found infected days after a senior minister from Nanded recovered from the infection.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia visits Bagichi Allauddin & Nabi Karim areas in Paharganj where samples are being collected for serological survey. Under the survey, from June 27 to July 10, blood samples from 20,000 persons will be tested. The survey is part of the Centre's support to states and Union Territories (UTs) to combat COVID-19.

Puducherry CM's Office to be Closed as Staff is Infected | Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy said his office would be closed for the next two days as one of his staff members tested positive for COVID-19. The affected person was admitted to the government hospital.

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital's OPD Services to Resume from July 1 | After remaining suspended for three months, OPD services at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital will resume from July 1 with precautions against the novel coronavirus, hospital authorities said.  The OPD services will function from 8 am to 8 pm as they had been functioning before the coronavirus-induced lockdown.

CRPF Personnel Dies | A 44-year-old CRPF personnel died due to COVID-19 in Delhi. He was also suffering from kidney disease. Total count of COVID-19 cases in CRPF reaches 1,046 including 8 deaths: Central Reserve Police Force

Indian Nationals Return from Pakistan | Indian nationals, who were stranded in Pakistan due to lockdown, return to India via Attari-Wagah border. Shivraj Singh Bal, SDM-2,Amritsar says, "248 people are registered to return today but we're expecting more people as 81 registered people couldn't come in last 2 days."

Mizoram COVID-19 Cases | A 32-year-old man has tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram, taking the state's tally to 148, officials said. The new patient, a resident of Champhai district, had recently returned to Mizoram from Delhi, a statement issued by the state Information and Public Relations Department said.

Andhra COVID-19 Cases |  Andhra Pradesh reported 796 new COVID-19 cases, a record single day spike, taking the overall tally in the state to 12,285. Also, 11 patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 157 so far, according to the latest bulletin.

SI Tests Positive for COVID-19 in TN | The North Police station at nearby Tirupur was closed temporarily as a sub-inspector tested positive. She had come to Tirupur on June 24 on leave and her blood and swab samples were taken the next day, along with that of her husband, police said.

UP COVID-19 Cases | Uttar Pradesh reported 19 novel coronavirus fatalities and 605 infections as the state's COVID-19 count reached 21,548 while the death toll rose to 649, a senior official said.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat chairs a review meeting with all DMs and CMOs over Covid-19 and dengue situation in the state. The CM instructs officers to ensure the conduct of weekly cleanliness drives and awareness campaigns regarding dengue.

Class 10 SSLC Exam Candidate Tests Positive in K'taka | Class 10 student from Karnataka's Hassan district tests positive for Covid-19. The student appeared today for the Class 10 SSLC Exam, which began on June 25. He had taken treatment for dengue and had given sample for Covid-19 test, too, after which he was declared positive. The state health department is looking at measures to quarantine his contacts. Around eight lakh students are writing SSLC exams in Karnataka this year.

In US, there have been almost 40,000 cases per day in last 2 days, India's numbers are not that high. 180 More Cases in Bihar | 180 more Covid-19 positive cases have been reported in Bihar, taking the total number of cases in the state to 8,858: State Health Department.
