Centre Gives 100 Ventilators to Himachal Pradesh | The Centre has provided 500 ventilators to Himachal Pradesh free of cost to fight the coronavirus pandemic, according to an official. He said 178 were transport ventilators and the rest intensive care unit ventilators. CM Jai Ram Thakur had expressed concern over ventilator shortage during a meeting the PM and the Health Minister.

Thane BJP Legislator Tests +ve | A BJP legislator from the Thane district of Maharashtra has tested positive for COVID-19, a civic health official said. The 40-year-old legislator had tested positive for the disease couple of days ago and is presently undergoing treatment at a hospital in neighbouring Mumbai, the official said.
Govt Doctor in Karnataka Dies | A 29-year-old doctor working at a primary health centre in Karnataka's Belagavi district died after contracting the novel coronavirus. The government doctor was admitted at a private hospital in Bengaluru where he died on Thursday noon. Must Try to Increase Daily Testing Capacity to 25,000: UP CM | Yogi Adityanath expressed satisfaction over the daily COVID-19 testing capacity in the state reaching the 20,000 mark, and said the target should now be to increase it to 25,000 each day, an official said. At a meeting with senior officials, the chief minister stressed on encouraging industrial, commercial and business establishments to set up COVID-19 helpdesks to keep people safe from the virus, Additional Chief Secretary Awanish Awasthi said.
8 States Contributed to 85.5% Active Cases | Eight states, including Maharashtra, Delhi and Tamil Nadu, contributed 85.5% of the active COVID-19 caseload and 87% of the total deaths due to the disease in India, according to the Union Health Ministry. India has reported five lakh COVID-19 cases with the worst single-day jump of 18,552 cases on Saturday. The death toll has climbed to 15,685.
24 SP Leaders Booked for Defying Social Distancing Norms | Twenty-four Samajwadi Party leaders, including its district unit president, were booked for allegedly defying social distancing norms while protesting against the fuel price hike, police said. The party leaders had staged a demonstration here on Friday during which they flouted social distancing norms, Superintendent of Police S Anand said.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia visits Bagichi Allauddin & Nabi Karim areas in Paharganj where samples are being collected for serological survey. Sir Ganga Ram Hospital's OPD Services to Resume from July 1 | After remaining suspended for three months, OPD services at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital will resume from July 1 with precautions against the novel coronavirus, hospital authorities said. The OPD services will function from 8 am to 8 pm as they had been functioning before the coronavirus-induced lockdown.

Mizoram COVID-19 Cases | A 32-year-old man has tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram, taking the state's tally to 148, officials said. The new patient, a resident of Champhai district, had recently returned to Mizoram from Delhi, a statement issued by the state Information and Public Relations Department said.
Class 10 SSLC Exam Candidate Tests Positive in K'taka | Class 10 student from Karnataka's Hassan district tests positive for Covid-19. The student appeared today for the Class 10 SSLC Exam, which began on June 25. He had taken treatment for dengue and had given sample for Covid-19 test, too, after which he was declared positive. The state health department is looking at measures to quarantine his contacts. Around eight lakh students are writing SSLC exams in Karnataka this year.

The union health ministry on Saturday allowed the use of the steroid drug dexamethasone as an alternative to methylprednisolone to treat coronavirus patients with moderate and severe symptoms. The decision was taken after British clinical trials found the low-cost steroid had life-saving potential for critically-ill coronavirus patients
The total number of coronavirus cases in India crossed the 5-lakh mark on Saturday after 18,552 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, according to data provided by the union health ministry. This is the highest number of new cases reported in a day. The death toll climbed to 15,685 as 384 deaths were recorded by the health ministry in the last 24 hours.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, meanwhile, said India is much better placed than many other nations with respect to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Earlier this year, some people had predicted that the impact of the virus in India would be very severe. Due to lockdown, many initiatives taken by the Government and a people-driven fight, India is much better placed than many other nations. India's recovery rate is rising," the PM said during his inaugural address on the occasion marking the 90th birth anniversary celebrations of Rev. Dr Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan.
The number of COVID-19 containment zones in Delhi will increase in the coming days after a re-mapping of such areas as authorities have decided to divide them into micro clusters for better surveillance and contact-tracing, officials said on Friday. In Northwest district, where the exercise has been concluded, there has been a rise in the number of containment zones from 21 to 28, an official said.
As on Friday, there are 280 COVID-19 containment zones in the city. According to a revised COVID-19 response plan issued by the Delhi government, the re-mapping of the containment zones should be completed by June 30. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had recently advised the Delhi government to implement the containment strategy recommended by the V K Paul Committee.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Delhi have surged to 73,780, according to the data released by ministry of health and family welfare. According to the statistics presented by the government, the rise in active cases in the capital has become stable while the mortality rate due to the disease has become flat.
