CHANDIGARH: A 60-year-old chemist in Sector 16 has alleged Government Multi-specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, refused to treat him when he redeveloped some symptoms after being “cured” of Covid-19 and discharged — charges that the hospital denied. “I was asked by GMSH to bring a discharge summary from PGI, where I was not even admitted. Doctors refused to test me for Covid,” he alleged.
An official in GMSH said, “These are false charges. How could the patient be travelling to the hospitals without asking for ambulance service from us? He was home quarantined.” As per the government policy, after discharge from any hospital, a Covid patient must be under home quarantine for a week. “My quarantine period was over, so I could move out,” said the chemist. The man was tested positive on June 10. He was admitted to Dhanwantri Ayurvedic College and discharged on June 17. The patient felt breathless and visited GMSH on Friday. “I was told to be put on oxygen. I managed the same at home,” said the chemist, who is a heart patient. The father of the chemist is still admitted to PGI’s ICU as a Covid patient.
