Representative ImageGURUGRAM: Six people have been booked for allegedly molesting and harassing a woman colleague.
According to police, the 29-year-old woman used to work with a technology and legal service company based in DLF-3. “She alleged that her colleagues used to molest her in the office cab. The woman used to commute from Delhi to Gurugram in the office cab, which she shared with five other male colleagues,” a police officer said.
The complainant, a lawyer, joined the company in June 2019. “After a while, the assistant manager of the company started harassing me. He used to make objectionable comments on my body. Later, some colleagues who used to share the office cab with me also started harassing me,” the woman told police.
“On February 12, the assistant manager made some objectionable comment about my body and when I threatened to file a complaint with the company, he pleaded to not do so. I gave him a warning and did not file any complaint, but the incident was very disturbing. I took a one day leave (on February 13),” the complaint read.
On February 14, she joined the office and received a mail from one of her seniors about “unethical behaviour at the workplace”. On inquiring about the reason, she was informed that her behaviour with one of the office colleagues was inappropriate.
She alleged that the five office colleagues who were sharing a cab with her used to harass her saying she will be sacked if she raised the issue. “They would often come drunk inside the cab and sometimes they used to stop the cab to buy liquor. They would make me sit in between and inappropriately touch me,” she alleged, adding that they also threatened her against filing any complaint.
She raised the matter with the HR and filed an verbal complaint but no action was taken against the accused and she was sent on leave. “My contract was not renewed for filing a complaint against my colleagues,” she alleged, adding that till now she has not received the termination and relieving letters. She had filed a complaint with police on March 3.
On the basis of her complaint, an FIR was filed against six persons from the company at DLF-3 police station. “
When contacted, the company’s spokesperson said they have filed a police complaint and taken a disciplinary action against the named people.
