Coronavirus Live Updates: Today is the 95th day of India’s nationwide lockdown, meant to curb the novel coronavirus pandemic. India is now among the five countries most affected by the outbreak, with a total of 5,08,953 infections and 15,685 deaths. India on Saturday saw another record spike of 18,552 new COVID-19 cases in a single-day, pushing the tally to 5,08,953, while the death toll rose to 15,685, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

The number of recoveries continued to surge with 2,95,880 patients cured so far, while there are 1,97,387 active cases, according to the updated official figures at 8 am.  One patient has migrated.

Globally, there have been over 86.39 lakh confirmed cases of COVID-19. At least 4.59 lakh people have died so far. The United States, Brazil, Russia, India and the United Kingdom are the most-affected countries.

    The number of COVID-19 cases in Uttarakhand rose to 2,791 on Saturday with 66 more people testing positive for the disease, the state health department said. Nainital reported the highest number of 29 cases, followed by Almora 11 and Dehradun eight, Bageshwar seven, Rudraprayag three, Tehri and Chamoli two each, and Pauri, Champawat, Uttarkashi and Udam Singh Nagar one each, it said.   • 33 central forces personnel among 204 fresh COVID-19 cases in J-K; count rises to 6,966

    As many as 204 more people, including 33 BSF and CRPF personnel, tested positive for coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, taking the total infections in the Union territory to 6,966, officials said. They said 191 of the fresh cases were recorded in the Kashmir Valley, while 13 were in Jammu region. Thirty-two of them had recently returned to the Union territory. (PTI)

  • Nepal's COVID-19 tally crosses 12,000-mark

    Nepal has registered 554 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the nationwide COVID-19 tally to 12,309, the health ministry said on Saturday.
    Health Ministry Spokesperson Jageshwar Gautam said that 434 men and 120 women tested positive for COVID-19 during tests conducted at 22 health labs across the country in the past 24 hours. As of Saturday, coronavirus has spread to all 77 districts of Nepal. (PTI)

    Twenty-four Samajwadi Party leaders, including its district unit president, were booked for allegedly defying social distancing norms while protesting against the fuel price hike, police said on Saturday.
