FALL RIVER - The city is reporting eight new positive cases of COVID-19, for a total of 1,578 since the pandemic began. As well, the city reported two additional deaths, for a total of 101.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported 50 new COVID-19-related deaths across the state Friday, bringing the state's total to 8,013.

In addition, state health officials reported 233 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 108,070.

DPH recently began reporting both confirmed cases and probable cases. Of the new cases reported Friday, 84 are probable. 11 of the newly reported deaths fell into the probable category.

As of Friday, 791 patients with the virus were hospitalized in Massachusetts. There were 156 patients reported to be in the ICU, and 99 intubated.

Charlton Memorial Hospital reported 32 patients, with eight in the ICU; one week ago, they had 40 patients, with nine in the ICU.

Morton Hospital reported two patients, with none in the ICU; one week ago, they had six patients, with two in the ICU.

St. Luke's Hospital reported 23 patients, with four in the ICU; one week ago, they had 33 patients, with two in the ICU.

Saint Anne's Hospital reported two patients, with none in the ICU; one week ago, they had zero patients.

The seven-day weighted average positive test rate was 1.9%, down from 7.9% a month ago, but slightly up from Thursday's 1.8%. The three day average of hospitalizations was 851, down from 2, 109 a month ago. The three-day average of deaths is 26, down from 66 a month ago, but up slightly from Thursday's 21.

As of June 24, weekly data shows that 91,404 Massachusetts patients have been released from isolation, meaning they are considered to have recovered from the virus.
