First Shipment Of Polestar 2 Customer Cars Arrives In Europe

The first customer shipment of Polestar 2 EVs has landed in Europe in the Belgian port of Zeebrugge.

Destined for Sweden and Norway, the first customer vehicles are estimated to be handed over in August. Further Polestar 2 EVs for customers in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK are following closely behind as delivery ramps up to meet customer demand. Meanwhile, buyers in Switzerland will get their Polestar electric vehicles later in 2020.

“This is a big moment. We are one step closer to getting Polestar 2 to our first customers in Europe. The arrival of this first shipment is proof of just how committed we are to our customers and how our operations are working at high efficiency around the world,” said Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.

In order to reach customers, the performance brand will roll out physical Polestar Spaces staffed by non-commissioned Polestar Specialists across launch markets this summer. These Spaces will allow people to test drive the Polestar 2 after booking the car online on Polestar.com or in person. Test drives may also be conducted from home or at a number of events to be held in the future.

The vehicles that have just arrived by ship in Zeebrugge will be transported by road to a central hub in Belgium for a final preparation process and check procedure. After that, they will be heading onwards to their destination markets.

The China-made Polestar 2 has an output of 300 kW (402 HP / 408 PS) and 487 lb-ft (660 Nm) of torque from two electric motors powered by a 78 kWh battery pack. The targeted driving range is 500 km (310 miles) according to the WLTP cycle or 275 miles (442 km) under EPA standards. As for its 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration, it takes less than 5 seconds.

The Polestar 2 is priced from €55,825 in Germany, £49,900 in the UK and $59,900 in the United States.
