Amazon is sweetening its Prime membership to retain customers on its popular premium service. The Amazon Prime membership costs Rs 999 annually while its monthly subscription is available for Rs 129 per month. Now, the US-based giant is offering a Rs 100 discount on the yearly subscription to the customers who were using the Prime membership but have now cancelled their subscription. But there is a catch.

The Amazon Prime membership can be rebought for Rs 100 less, which brings the price down to Rs 899 for the annual subscription. But this deal is only available to the Prime members who have cancelled their yearly subscription. The regular price of the Prime membership for a year is Rs 999, which is recursive. This means Amazon automatically charges the customer's card an amount of Rs 999 every year unless the customer manually cancels the subscription.

Since Amazon offers many services under its Prime membership, such as free one-day and two-day deliveries, access to Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading, and Prime Gaming, it seems rather impractical for someone to cancel the subscription. But there could be different reasons when you have to end the services and stop paying Rs 999 annually. If you also cancelled the subscription and are now willing to re-join, Amazon will discount the membership by Rs 100.

The Rs 100 discount on the re-joining of Amazon Prime membership is reflecting on my end after I cancelled my subscription. But I may be one of the few customers who get it. This means that you will have to check if Amazon is also giving you the benefit of not having to pay Rs 100 on the annual Prime membership. To do that, visit amazon.in or open the Amazon app on your smartphone. Now, head to the Prime section available on the top of the website and on the sidebar inside the mobile app. The Prime section will show you the offer if it is available for you.

Separately, Amazon's biggest shopping day in the world, known as Prime Day, has been put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic that has crippled businesses globally. The Jeff Bezos-led company is yet to declare the dates for Prime Day this year, which sees big discounts on a range of products and is available in India, as well. The Prime Day sale could have been deferred to August this year due to the pandemic, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. Usually, the Prime Day sale is held towards the middle of the month of July.
