NEW DELHI: With positivity rates in Telangana, Maharashtra and Gujarat hovering higher than the national average, the Centre has deployed a team that will visit these three states and coordinate with local officials there to strengthen their Covid management efforts. The central team, led by health ministry joint secretary Lav Agarwal, will visit the three states between June 26 and 29 to coordinate with the state officials and also review the measures undertaken by the states for containment. Each of these three states and Delhi have reported positivity rate of over 10%, even as the national average is around 8% despite significant increase in testing. Maharashtra has reported the highest number of cases at 1,42,900. Gujarat has recorded 28,943 cases while Telangana has so far reported 10,331 cases. “The central team has been deployed to assess the situation on ground and present a report. The Centre will then make policy interventions accordingly,” a senior official said.
