Indian economy would have crumbled anyway, covid or not

Optimism, if any, about the state of the economy at this point is difficult to explain. There is little ammo left with the govt after the reforms it tried to execute in the recent past didn't exactly restart the economic engine. The decline in India's fortunes actually started quite a while ago; the virus struck an economy with pre-existing conditions.

Indian economy is part of a large global economy. Economy relates to consumption. The consumption pattern can never be linear. It has to correct at times to again see growths. Further growths is like flowing water, will happen where competitive, qualitative and motivated gradients are available. It will not happen everywhere. Indian businesses will have to reinvent itself to grow. Government can play a facilitators role, they cannot be running businesses. We have room and space to grow, need to identify and make focused efforts.

Demand- that is the key word the magical word. A hardware shop opened- he told me that he has been doing fantastic business almost thrice. The used car dealer says tht they are getting many enquiries. The real estate builder says that there is a huge interest in smaller homes. The tution teachers and classes management says that parents are wanting to restart. Everyone wants to travel, at least within India. People would like to go to restuarants, malls, movies, beauty parlours , saloons etc. This is the feeling on the ground.Dont write all negative stuff. We will come back again. Trust human spirit. We will live as we lived.

Need of the hour is bold reforms ........apart from slogans nothing seems to come from govt ...

govt, is between devil and deep sea they are really lost what to do,unless private sector does not increase their spending , govt increase is spending is not sufficient and private sector spending will increase when cofidence is build, and there should be more generation of demand to increase private sector spending and for that there should be all round confidence in public. it very dicy situation wether chicken or hen first.some innovative thinking has to be done for total revival and there should be better co ordination of govt depts which is lacking.

jumla is the worst thing that happened to India in past 40 years

Dyslexic (the license to err...)

France, italy n spain r expected to go down by 12%, germany by 6.5%. these r their own national estimates. IMF says India is the large economy to be the worst hit? For India 4.5% down will be manageable...

Modi govt is only abut big speeches and promises. Result is opposite. Time to replace modi and bring more competent government in India be it Kejriwal or Advani or ..... Modi Shah combo has failed miserably on many fronts Economy being the major one. India has gone backwards instead of progressing.

Dear Mihir Sharma, soon you will be abused on this write up about the government's mishandling of the economy even before pandemic. But your words are true. We all know how all of them come together to defend their policies vehemently, also remorseless on outcomes. Too bad for Indians, lost their dreams of Acche Dins, savings, jobs, businesses and now lives. We thought we'd progress faster than last 70 years, instead lost more in shortest possible time.

VIKAS HAS BEEN KIDNAPPED. NOW YOU ARE ATAMNIRBHAR

Sometimes the car is fine but because it has not been used for a long time all it needs is a strong kickstart . We have a incompetent FM must be replaced . All the indian economy wants is a kickstart . As a 3 month measure reduce the GST rates this will be a incentive for people to start buying like normal and once the momentum picks up it can be increased again . On the Incometax front the govt collection for income collection under 10L is very small . The FM making 5 slabs is silly . For 1 year exempt all income below 10L this will change the sentiment totally . In india reduction in Incometax doesn’t mean the govt loses much or the tax payer gains much it is just changes the mood . Some times I feel if a person saves 2000 in income tax he celebrates like he has just won a 2lakh lottery ... I think sentiment is most important . Like the economy was shut down in a shock . The same way it needs to be started with a shock . Modiji needs to come on tv ... give a big bhashan ... promise a lot of big things like he usually does tell us to play ghanti at 8pm and start the economy . Everyone knows modijis words are generally just words followed by little or no action but it does change the sentiment which is what is required
