As coronavirus cases continued to spiral in the national capital and crossed the 77,000 mark on Friday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said his government will set up ICU beds on a large scale, but asserted that the COVID-19 situation in the city was still under control. The national capital saw 3,460 cases on Friday, taking the coronavirus count to 77,240. With 63 fresh deaths, the toll climbed to 2,492. There are 27,675 active cases in Delhi.

Britain's official death toll from confirmed cases of COVID-19 rose by 186 to 43,414, the Department of Health said on Friday. The total included a revision in which two deaths had previously been counted twice. Including deaths from suspected cases of the disease, Britain's toll is over 54,000.
Over $30 bn needed to develop COVID-19 tests, treatments, vaccines: WHO
The World Health Organization said Friday that a global initiative to speed up the development and production of COVID-19 tests, vaccines and treatments will require more than $30 billion over the next year. Providing details of the so-called ACT accelerator, launched in April and aimed at pooling international resources to conquer the pandemic, WHO said "the costed plans presented today call for $31.3 billion in funding."
In West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that night curfew will remain in force between 10 pm and 5 am, instead of current 9 pm to 5 am, during the extended coronavirus lockdown till July 31.
In Tamil Nadu, capital Chennai is under an intense 12-day lockdown from June 19. It has reported over 700 deaths so far.
Covid-19: 12-hour night curfew in Assam, Hyderabad market traders to shut shops for 8 days, reports PTI
The Assam government announced a 12-hour night curfew across the state from Friday and a 14-day complete lockdown in Kamrup (Metro) district, of which Guwahati city is a part, from June 28 while traders of Hyderabad's largest wholesale market Begum Bazar decided to shut shops for eight days from Sunday.
Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has inducted 11 new labs in last 24 hours. India now has 1016 diagnostic labs dedicated to Covid-19. During the past 24 hours, 2,15,446 tests have been conducted. The total number of samples tested, as on date, is 77,76,228: Govt of India
