JAMMU: Five people, including three minors, died in an accident at Raggi Nallah area of Jammu & Kashmir’s Doda district on Friday morning. This was the third road mishap in the UT’s mountainous Chenab region in a week, in which 17 lives — including that of six minors — have been lost. Doda SSP Mumtaz Ahmed said the accident took place around 9.30am when a van on the way from Gool towards Thatri skidded off the road at Raggi Nallah and plunged into a deep gorge. “Five people, including three minors, have died in the accident,” a cop confirmed, adding that a search operation is underway at the site to retrieve the victims’ bodies. The driver of the vehicle Mohammad Asief (24), a 30-year-old woman passenger and her two sons — aged three and six — and 12-year-old Kamran Mustaq lost their lives in the mishap. On Thursday, a car skidded off the road and fell into Bhot nullah in Sangrala area of J&K’s Kishtwar district, killing six of a family whose bodies are yet to be retrieved. On June 19, a tipper with six people onboard rolled down into the Chenab in Kishtwar district, resulting in the death of six passengers, whose bodies too are yet to be recovered.
