42 fresh COVID cases in Goa; 84 more recover

The state on Wednesday recorded 42 new cases of the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic in the last 24 hours. At the same time, 84 COVID patients recovered from the disease on Wednesday.


One isolated case each has been reported at Sal, Bicholim and Kundaim, while there are three new cases in Sankhalim.


South Goa District Collector Ajit Roy on Wednesday declared ward number 2 of Curtorim village as a containment zone following the rising number of COVID-19 positive cases in the Curtorim area.


As per the media bulletin issued by the directorate of health services (DHS), new cases also include two cases each from Baina and Morlem and one from Headland Sada in Vasco.


Till date, Goa has seen 951 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 660 are active, while 289 patients have defeated the deadly virus and two deaths reported in the state. The number of active COVID cases, which was 702 on Tuesday, dropped to 660 on Wednesday.
According to the DHS, the 660 active cases include 81 persons, who travelled to Goa from outside by road, rail and air; 283 residents of Mangor Hill, while 198 cases are linked to the containment zone in Vasco. The major locations from where cases are surfacing include New Vaddem (17), Morlem (21), Baina (39), Chimbel (25), Headland Sada (51) and Curtorim (28).
