CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Corporation penalised a few citizens who were on morning walk on Thursday.
According to receipts issued by the civic body, a citizen in T Nagar was fined Rs 100 on Thursday. In the category of violation, the authority has stated 'morning walking'.
In another case, a citizen has been fined Rs 300 for 'morning walking'
A corporation official said as a complete lockdown is in place to control the spread of Covid-19, people should not step out of their homes.
When asked about the government insisting people to walk up to two km for buying essentials (instead of using their vehicles), the official said they would check up on individual cases.
