Sushant Singh Rajput’s ‘Sonchiriya’ co-star Manoj Bajpayee on nepotism: ‘When we see talent, we immediately want to ignore or push it away’

It’s not just netizens now who are slamming the nepotism culture in Bollywood, celebs, too, have joined the debate. Manoj Bajpayee, who starred alongside Sushant Singh Rajput in ‘Sonchiriya’, in a recent interview, opened up about how mediocrity is celebrated while talented actors, who would’ve been known as best actors around the world, get ignored. He said that’s how our country is like – ‘when we see talent, we immediately want to ignore or push it away’. Calling this system deplorable, Manoj added that the industry has wasted talents, reiterating the need to look inward and rectify it. The actor stated that if this keeps going on, the industry will be cursed for it and will keep on losing the respect of the common people. He also talked about how films of smaller scales are not marketed properly and if they start doing well, they are pulled out of theatres. On surviving in Bollywood thus far, Manoj said that he is thick-skinned and ‘the son of a different mother’.
