Baba Ramdev’s ayurvedic company ‘Patanjali Ayurveda’ had recently launched ‘Coronil’ for treating the coronavirus infection but it seems the Maharashtra government is completely against the sale of the medicine. The state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh warned Baba Ramdev regarding the launch of the medicine and said that Maharashtra will never permit the sale of such bogus medicines.

The declaration came as soon the Uttarakhand government stated that the ayurvedic company had applied to acquire a license to manufacture a medicine that will function as an immunity booster against fever and cough and is not particularly meant for the Covid-19 infection.

Home Minister of Maharashtra, Anil Deshmukh took to twitter and said, “An abundant warning to @yogrishiramdev that Maharashtra won't allow sale of spurious medicines.”

The Home Minister also said that the National Institute of Medical Sciences in Jaipur will look into the matter whether Pantanjali Ayurved conducted the clinical trials of ‘Coronil’ or not.

The company presented ‘Coronil’ on Tuesday claiming it as a potential treatment for COVID-19. But the Union Ayush Ministry had requested the details from the company and Patanjali was urged to cease its product advertising till the issue is solved. They also asked for the composition and details of the medicine along with the research conducted, rules followed including the Institutional Ethics Committee clearance and CTRI registration.

Deshmukh, on Saturday, said they are pleased with the decision of the Ayush Ministry to ban the medicine ads. “Claims of a cure for Corona without sharing clinical trials, sample size details, registration with authorities can't be acceptable. It’s great that @moayush banned such advt. There can be no compromise with public health & well-being at all,” Deshmukh tweeted.

An official notice was issued previously which said, false claims, spreading the approval of the research study conducted among the public, stating claims of treating Covid-19 and the title of Ayush ministry on the containers and labels are against the legal provisions.

The government of Rajasthan also did not permit the usage of the medicine without the consent of the Ayush Ministry. They have also launched a complaint against it in the Muzaffarpur court over the alleged claim.
