Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH Shripad Naik on Wednesday said Patanjali Ayurved can neither advertise nor carry out the sale of its new medicine, a cure for COVID-19 as per the claims of the manufacturer, unless and until the Ministry of AYUSH gives it a clearance.

“It is a good thing that Patanjali has given the country a new medicine for coronavirus, but there are rules and regulations for such things and therefore, the medicine needs proper permission from the Ministry of AYUSH,” he added.

Speaking further, Naik said that the company has been asked to send a related report to the Ministry of AYUSH. “Once we receive the report, our scientists will look into it and take the necessary decision,” he noted.

Patanjali Ayurved, run by the Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev had launched ‘Coronil’ on June 23, with the claim that it is a cure for the ongoing global corona pandemic.
