UK PM terms Sino-India standoff ‘very serious, worrying situation'; calls for dialogue
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has called on India and China to engage in dialogue to sort out their border issues as he described the escalation in eastern Ladakh as “a very serious and worrying situation” which the UK is closely monitoring.
The first official statement of Johnson came during his weekly Prime Minister's Questions (PMQs) in the House of Commons here on Wednesday.
Responding to Conservative Party MP Flick Drummond on the implications for British interests of a dispute between a “Commonwealth member and the world's largest democracy on the one side, and a state that challenges our notion of democracy on the other,” he described the escalation in eastern Ladakh as “a very serious and worrying situation”, which the UK is "monitoring closely".
“Perhaps the best thing I can say… is that we are encouraging both parties to engage in dialogue on the issues on the border and sort it out between them,” the Prime Minister said.

India yet to understand China’s mind: Kargil War Hero
Retired Army colonel and Maha Veer Chakra awardee Sonam Wangchuk claimed that India is yet to understand the Chinese mind and formulate a strong policy to deal with any situation along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh.
The Kargil war hero stated that Chinese could never be trusted as they have global strategic designs and currently they are working in tandem with Pakistan to isolate India.
The Indian Army, Wangchuk said, was capable and equipped enough to deal with any escalation along LAC, however pointed out that cyber warfare is the weakness of India.

PLA opens new front with heavy troop build-up in Depsang Bulge
The satellite images on Wednesday showed that Chinese troops have come back in larger numbers to the “Patrolling Point-14 (PP-14)” area in the Galwan Valley region, the site of the brutal skirmish on June 15. This time, PLA appears to have set up a large camp with gun positions at the site near the “Y-junction” of the Shyok and Galwan rivers, which is slightly over a kilometre below PP-14, a reference point that marks the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Tensions rise as China brings back tent at clash site
China has brought back the tent-like structure that Indian troops had destroyed on June 15 near Patrol Point 14 in the Galwan Valley, escalating tensions that were expected to cool down after Monday’s corps commander-level talks.
Both sides had vacated the site after the deadly clash in which 20 Indian soldiers led by Col Santosh Babu were killed. The Chinese tent was removed during the skirmish, following which the two sides agreed on talks through senior military and diplomatic channels. The construction of a new tent even as talks make slow progress is bound to have a debilitating impact on efforts to disengage the troops, added sources.

At least 3 PLA soldiers, including CO, killed in June 15 Galwan clash
Indian forces deployed on the LAC have gathered from their local Chinese counterparts, posted on other sites, that at least two soldiers other than the commanding officer (CO), were killed in the June 15 clash at Galwan Valley. Details of the fate of other wounded were still not known.
While the Chinese foreign ministry has not acknowledged any causality or injuries, PLA forces have confirmed to their counterparts that the CO was killed by the injuries sustained in a violent ‘fist fight’.
The names of the Chinese soldiers — dead or injured –– have not been revealed but rescue teams from the Indian side, comprising ITBP, claimed to have witnessed Chinese evacuation team with equipment and staff administering medical aid to them.

Rahul Gandhi slams PM Modi
Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and general secretary KC Venugopal held a meeting with party's state presidents on Wednesday through video conferencing to discuss the country's tension with China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the situation in the country due to COVID-19 pandemic and rising fuel prices.
In memory of the 20 soldiers who lost their lives in the violent face-off with China at Galwan Valley in Ladakh, the party has decided to hold a 'Salute to the Martyrs' programme across the country on June 26.
Rahul Gandhi said that China has started an action on the LAC under a thought-provoking strategy, which the government is not accepting. "Our foreign policy has completely collapsed," he added.
The former Congress president further added that the country's relations with friendly and neighbouring countries have deteriorated and alleged that the Prime Minister is responsible for it.

Consignments from China piling up at ports as customs tightens scrutiny
Consignments originating from China are being subjected to thorough scrutiny at ports and airports, leading to huge holdups and delay in clearing of all goods, ranging from electronics to pharmaceuticals.
