The hospital, Delhi’s largest facility for people suffering from moderate to severe symptoms of the novel coronavirus infection, has given a tablet to the in-charge of each Covid ward.
“Family members of patients aren’t allowed inside. But they can call on the number of the ward in-charge for a video call once daily,” said an official. The move comes days after the Supreme Court said the condition of patients in the hospital was pathetic.
Lok Nayak has 2,000 Covid-19 beds. Of these, 740 were occupied on Wednesday. The hospital said most of its patients had severe symptoms and required oxygen support. “We have conducted more than 140 deliveries since March 2 where mothers had tested positive. More than 1,000 dialysis sessions have been provided to infected patients who have kidney dysfunction,” he said.
A doctor said initially only the emergency block was being used to admit Covid-19 patients but now all major blocks had been turned into Covid facilities.
