COVID-19 Pune: PMC to pay private hospital bills for yellow and orange ration card holders

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will foot the bill for patients who are willing to take treatment for COVID-19 in private hospitals

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will foot the bill for patients who are willing to take treatment for COVID-19 in private hospitals but are not eligible for any state government or PMC scheme and have the yellow or orange colour ration card. However, patients whose financial condition is good won’t be eligible for this facility.

The PMC has entered into a contract with 10 hospitals in the city to provide COVID-19 treatment to patients. PMC will pay the bill as per the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) norms for the treatment done at these hospitals.

Bill amounting up to Rs 1 lakh are paid by the PMC for patients coming from the low-income group or those eligible under the urban poor health scheme. The state government has also provided financial assistance under the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, Ayushyaman Bharat Scheme, General Insurance Public Sector Association, Public Charitable Trust schemes.
