Three persons, who had come in contact with the former health minister, who recently tested positive for COVID-19, have now tested positive for the virus.
According to sources in the health department, one of the three COVID patients is driver, while the other two are close relatives.

Throat swab samples of 18 persons, who had come in contact with the former minister were collected by the Sankhali health authorities on Monday and three samples have tested positive for the infection. All the three patients are asymptomatic, said health officer Dr Uttam Desai.

Two patients have been shifted to the Shiroda COVID care centre, while the third one has been accommodated at the Mayem Residency, said Bicholim mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit.
Meanwhile, the people of Sankhali have been instructed to be on the alert and maintain social distancing.

The Sankhali municipal council Wednesday conducted a sanitisation drive at Desai Nagar with the help of Bicholim fire station personnel. “We have conducted a sanitisation at Desai Nagar and other wards will also be sanitised, if required,” Pandit said.
In Morlem, Devulwada, Katarwada and Ghodemal, around 903 throat swap samples have been collected and testing in all the villages has been completed. Out of the 19 positive cases detected so far, seven patients have recovered fully and sent home, said Dr Desai.
