NEW DELHI: The government will soon take a final decision on pending examinations of CBSE, JEE, ICSE, NEET and others. These exams were postponed earlier in view of Covid-19 situation across the country. It has increased anxiety, worry and frustration among students as well as parents.

CBSE 12th pending exam

The Central Board of Secondary Education is going to take a final decision very soon on whether to conduct the pending Board exams. Exams for few subjects were cancelled earlier in view of the rising Covid-19. The hearing of the CBSE 12th pending exams is scheduled today in the Supreme Court and the final verdict is expected to be out by 2.00 PM today.

As per latest updates from sources, there is likelihood of the CBSE 12th exams being cancelled in view of the rising number of infections across the country. However, the official statement by the board has not been released yet.

While some students are hoping to get promoted without having to attempt the examination, others, want to attempt the final examinations as they were not fully prepared during internal exams.

ICSE pending exams

As per the latest updates, the Maharashtra government has told the Bombay High Court that the Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE) board cannot be permitted to conduct its pending standard X and XII exams in July in view of the current COVID-19 situation.

The ICSE board had decided to conduct its pending examinations in from July 2 to 12 across the state.

The ICSE board last week offered students an option to either take the pending exams in July or have their final results, in subjects where exams have not been held, determined on their performance in internal assessment/pre-board exams.

JEE Main and NEET UG 2020 exam

Engineering entrance exam JEE Main 2020 second attempt is usually conducted in the month of April by the National Testing Agency (NTA). However, this year, the JEE Main April 2020 exam was postponed in view of Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown.

Medical entrance exam NEET UG 2020 was scheduled to be held on the 3 May 2020. However, NTA on March 27, announced the postponement of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG May-2020.

As per sources, the JEE (Main) and NEET-UG examinations are also likely to be deferred this year in view of increasing Covid-19 crisis across the country.

CTET 2020 exam

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2020 is scheduled to be held on Sunday, July 5, 2020. The CBSE has not yet announced the postponement of CTET 2020 exams, however, the admit cards for the examinations, which was scheduled to be released by the third week of June 2020 is delayed.

Given the current Covid-19 situation, the govt is likely to postpone CTET 2020 exam too.

The NTA had also postponed the National Council for Hotel Management Joint Entrance Examination (NCHM JEE) 2020 in view of Covid-19 pandemic. The NCHM JEE exam was scheduled to be held on June 22, 2020.

University exams likely to be deferred


As the cases of COVID-19 cases are increasing across the country with each passing day, exams for final year students in universities and higher education institutions are likely to be cancelled. Notably, the final decision on the cancellation of exams is yet to be taken by the authorities.


"I have advised the @ugc_india to revisit the guidelines issued earlier for intermediate and Terminal Semester examinations and academic calendar. The foundation for revisited guidelines shall be health and safety students, teachers and staff," Union Human Resource Development (HRD) minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank tweeted yesterday.



The commencement of the new session is also likely to be deferred to October.
