Chennai returnee flouts Covid-19 norms, booked

Coimbatore: Sending out a strong message to the people, the city corporation has booked a 38-year-old man at KK Pudur under the Epidemic Diseases Act for not remaining in home quarantine that too after entering the district from Chennai without the mandatory e-pass. While he hadn’t informed the control room about his arrival, neighbours spotted him and alerted the city he corporation.
The west zone sanitary inspector said Subramaniyam, a resident of Balasubramaniam Street, had come back from Chennai, where he owns a house, on June 5. “After the arrival, he could have called the control room. But he did not do that. More importantly, he also did not remain in home quarantine for 14 days. Instead, he went around meeting people and visiting restaurants and shops during the period. The neighbours, who were in a state of fear, called us.”
The city corporation has booked Subramaniyam under Section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act and under Sections 269 and 188 of the Penal Code. It has also stuck the quarantine sticker outside his house. TNN
