THANE: As many as 20 clinics were sealed by the
municipal administration, in Diva on Thursday following complaints of them remaining shut during the lockdown.
Officials from the
Diva administrative ward said few of these clinics could possibly have been operated by quacks and so some preferred to remain shut and not draw attention of the authorities. Accordingly, the administration slapped notices and on Thursday sealed their premises after no response was received. The owners of clinics have been asked to respond with paperwork justifying their degrees and proof that they were operational during the lockdown.
“We had been constantly requesting the doctors in the suburb to keep their clinics operative and also alert us about suspect cases. However, for the last few weeks, we noticed 20 clinics seemed to be not reporting and were alerted that they were shut so we issued them notices and then sealed their premises,” informed a civic official.
