The respective ward officers of each area will be designing as well as reorganising the city's containment zones

Pune: Now without mutual decision and coordination of all the wards in the jurisdiction of Pune Municipal Corporation, the respective ward officers of each area will be designing as well as reorganising the city's containment zones based on the study and strata of the area amid the coronavirus spread. The municipal administration has taken steps to curb the spread of coronavirus, while from now on every Friday review meeting will be organised and the new cantonment zones will be announced after the reconstruction of study.

Considering the number of patients and the dense population four new cantonment zones were created in the city whereas few areas were given the relaxations. The cantonment zone was formed on four different timelines in this pandemic which commenced from May 3, later on, May 18, followed by June 1 and recently on June 17 only a few areas were declared as containment zones. The administration also succeeded in preventing the spread of the infection by sealing the relevant parts.

With the permission of the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad, the ward officers will no longer be able to declare cantonment zones in their area.  Shekhar Gaikwad said, "The ward officers are well versed with their respective areas as well as know the fieldwork analysis and ground realities well. This will help to study and work on minute observations of such spread of the pandemic."
