The pet registration was started with registration of a pet dog of joint Commissioner Swati Tiwana.LUDHIANA: Ludhiana civic body launched pet registration program on Thursday at zone D office. The residents will get time till December 31 to get their dogs and cats registered otherwise pet owners will be penalised and even pet will be lifted. The Ludhiana civic body is the first MC to start online pet registration in Punjab as Amritsar is doing but it is manual process.
The pet registration was started with registration of a pet dog of joint Commissioner Swati Tiwana.
The senior veterinary officer of MC Dr Harbans Singh Dhalla said, “For the registration of pets (cats and dogs) one has to open MC website and click at pet registration column. The owner will have to upload his photo and his pet's photo along with aadhar card number, address and other required details. After filling details payment option will be opened and Rs 400 fee will be charged for registration.”
He further said every year registration will be renewed. Once the registration process will get over owner will get receipt and showing that computer-generated receipt at room number 37 of zone A for getting brass token, he added.
The joint commissioner Swati Tiwana informed that first they have started process for dogs and cats and then other exotic animals will be taken over. She said registration will be compulsory for the dog breeders as well because it has been seen several times that they left the dogs abandoned so they can catch hold of such people. She said they will give time till December end for registration after that penalty will be imposed.
Meanwhile the Mayor Balkar Sandhu said, "The residents should come forward for the pets registration as it is important for society. In a way we will also come to know about total number of pets in the city."
