YAMUNANAGAR: A 55-year-old woman identified as Saroj Bala, an employee of the Northern Railway has been found murdered under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Railway Colony at Jagadhri Workshop area of Yamunanagar district late night on Tuesday.
On receiving the information about the murder, the Yamunanagar superintendent of police (SP) Kamaldeep Goyal reached the spot on Tuesday night and the crime team, dog squad and police photographers also inspected the quarter where the woman was found murdered.
Yamunanagar SP Kamaldeep said, "A woman's naked body has been found at her residence on Tuesday late evening and prima facie it appears to be a case of murder. She has been identified as Saroj Bala, who was a railway employee and lived alone at her quarter, as her husband had died some years ago. The household belongings at Saroj’s quarter are scattered. At this stage, we cannot confirm any incident of sexual assault but the same can also not be ruled out. More facts about the crime will come to light after the report of post-mortem."
Meanwhile, on the complaint of Saroj’s niece Richa of Sugar Mill Colony, Yamunanagar, a case has been registered against unknown accused under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Farakpur police station on Tuesday night.
Richa stated to the police, "My aunt Saroj Bala aged about 55 years lived alone at her quarter in Railway Colony, Jagadhri Workshop, Yamunanagar. My uncle Brij Mohan had died in 2011 and in 2014; aunt Saroj had got a job in railway canteen here. On Tuesday, my father called to inform me that my aunt was murdered. Following I reached the Railway Colony along with my husband and saw several people were gathered there. Her household belongings were scattered and I and my husband went inside the quarter and saw that my aunt’s dead body was lying naked in front of the refrigerator. It appeared that someone murdered her with a motive of loot.”
