Karnataka: Mysuru reports first Covid-19 death

MYSURU: An 83-year-old man from KR Nagar who died at a private hospital had Covid-19 infection, officials have confirmed. He was laid to rest as per ICMR protocols in Mysuru.
This is the first death due to Covid-19 in Mysuru. Earlier a man cured of infection died soon after he was discharged from hospital in May.
The senior citizen was admitted to a private hospital with complaints of respiratory infection two days ago. He died late on Tuesday. Authorities collected throat swab samples and sent them for testing as it is mandatory. The result has come positive for Covid-19.
Officials are now tracing his travel history and contacts to contain the spread of virus.
