Udupi administration asks pvt hospitals to be ready to treat Covid patients

The Udupi district administration has asked designated private hospitals in the district to be ready to treat Covid patients.

Chairing a meeting of the chiefs of private hospitals of the district, G Jagadeesha, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district, said that 19 private hospitals in the district have registered themselves with the government to treat Covid patients under the Aayushmaan Bharat-Arogya Karnataka programme.

These hospitals should earmark beds required for Covid patients and should keep ready the equipment required for the purpose. They should be ready to treat Covid patients at any point of time and should not deny services to any patient, he said.

He said the district administration will set up an expert committee to inspect the facilities treat Covid patients in the designated private hospitals. The team will give necessary suggestions to the hospitals, and submit a report to the administration.

All these designated hospitals will be informed about the procedures related to admission of patients and the treatment method. Jagadeesha also asked the chiefs of the private hospitals to open isolation centres in their premises.

He said 108 Covid cases are active in the district at present, and are being treated in Kundapura and Karkala taluks.
