In a series of interesting events, Patanjali launched its COVID cure, Coronil, just to be followed by ICMR and Ayush Ministry urging them to stop the promotion and verify their claims. They asked Patanjali to give clarity on the results of their clinical trials. And soon after, Patanjali CEO issued a statement saying that the communication gap has been filled and the company has adhered to all standard parameters for Randomised Placebo-Controlled trials.
Acharya Balkrishna further added, “This government provides encouragement and pride to Ayurveda. The communication gap has been done away with and we have 100% fulfilled all standard parameters for Randomised Placebo-Controlled Clinical Trials. We’ve given information for the same to the Ministry of AYUSH.”
Ayush Ministry had asked for details of the medicine Coronil which was being posed as a COVID cure by Patanjali. They said the issue will be thoroughly examined and only then can the company start advertising the product.
In the statement issues, Ministry had said, “The concerned Ayurvedic drug manufacturing company has been informed that such advertisements of drugs including Ayurvedic medicines are regulated under the provisions of Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954 and Rules thereunder and the directives issued by the Central Government in the wake of COVID outbreak.”
We are still awaiting final confirmation from ICMR or Ayush ministry.
