Honda City has been quite the popular one throughout its generations, of which it has seen many. After plenty of scoops and speculations, Honda just recently confirmed that the production of the 2020 model has begun and that it will launch in July. A lot has changed in the sedan segment since its previous generation was launched, so how does Honda plan to keep up? As it turns out the new 2020 Honda City has long list of fresh features to boast and a fresh new design as well.

First things first, the new Honda City gets two engine options - a newly-introduced 1.5L i-VTEC DOHC engine with VTC and a 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine, both compliant with BS-VI emission norms. The petrol engine makes 121 hp and 145 Nm, which is an increase of 2 hp and it now also claims better fuel efficiency as well. The diesel engine produces 100 hp and 200 Nm.

The 2020 Honda City will join the list of growing Internet-connected cars in India but will be the very first to introduce Alexa remote capability making talking to the car and accessing functions a lot easier. Honda have equipped the new City with Honda Connect system with a Telematics Control Unit.

Honda has added a whole lot of features to the new City, including full LED headlamps, Z-shaped wrap-around LED tail lamps, 17.7 cm HD full-colour TFT instrumentation with G-meter, Lane Watch camera, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Agile Handling Assist (AHA) and more.

In terms of safety, Honda states that the newly-designed platform high rigidity and the collision safety structure offers advanced safety. The car recently scored a five-star rating in ASEAN NCAP crash tests. It gets six airbags, reverse camera, rear parking sensors, and three-point seatbelts for all five occupants.

The new Honda City will be manufactured at Honda’s plant in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It will be be sold alongside the current-generation car in its lower trims in India. Expect prices for the new 2020 Honda City to start at Rs 11.6 lakh (ex-showroom).
