Representative imagePATIALA: The police have booked two persons for killing a migrant labourer to death following an altercation near Gurudwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib in Patiala city.
The incident allegedly took place in the wee hours of Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Mithun Patel of Bihar who was living in a rented house in Patiala. The case has been registered on the complaint of Mithun’s father Kishor Patel, who told the police that he, along with his son Mithun and Mithun’s wife was having a walk after late-night dinner when two accused in a car reached near them and started teasing.
He told the police that Mithun objected to the remarks made by the accused, following which an altercation took place. The police added that both the accused were heavily drunk and one of the accused broke half a liquor bottle and assaulted Mithun repeatedly with the broken liquor bottle. The police said that complainant Kishor further alleged that the accused also hit his son twice with heavy stones lying on the roadside.
“The complainant claimed after they all cried for help the accused managed to escape from the spot. He said they managed to rush Mithun to government Rajindra hospital however he succumbed to injuries following excessive bleeding. We are investigating the matter after registering the case but the accused are on run but will be nabbed soon," said station house officer Anaj Mandi police station.
