One tests positive for COVID-19 in Mapusa

Mapusa: The coronavirus infection is spreading to various parts of the state, with a barber from Mapusa, working at a state-run hospital, testing positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday evening.

The patient, a resident of Ganganagar at Khorlim in Mapusa, has been shifted to the COVID care centre at Shiroda for treatment.

Confirming the positive case, medical officer of urban health centre at Mapusa Dr Cheryl D’Souza said, “We have received the report on Tuesday evening and  the patient has been shifted to COVID facility for treatment. We have asked all his family members to stay home-quarantined and will be collecting throat swab samples of all his contacts on Wednesday.”

It may be noted that around ten days back, two positive cases were detected at Ektanagar and both the patients had a travel history. They were subsequently shifted to a COVID facility for treatment.
