CBSE Class 12 Exam Updates: Will the govt cancel remaining CBSE Class XII exams? A decision on this is likely to be announced by the CBSE and the Central government today. On Tuesday, the government had informed the Supreme Court that the decision in this regard will be taken today. The Central government and the CBSE had informed the Supreme Court on Tuesday that an expert body was in the process of making a final decision on the remaining Class XII Board exams. They had said that the decision on whether to scrap the exams or not will be hopefully taken today (Wednesday).
The remaining CBSE 12th papers are scheduled to take place from July 1-15. However, in the wake of the rising number of Coronavirus cases across the country, parents and students are not in favour of the exams.
The total number of Coronavirus cases in the country has jumped to 4,56,183 until today. Of these, 1,83,022 are active cases while 2,58,685 have been cured/discharged. As many as 14,476 people have lost their lives due to coronavirus in the country. major cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai are among the worst-hit places.
During the hearing on the petition filed by parents on the Supreme Court, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta had said that the government and the board were aware of the anxiety of students. And the authorities concerned would take a decision on the issue very soon.
In an official notification on May 18, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had announced the date sheet for remaining exams of Class XII.
The apex court bench headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar said that the expert body was in the process of taking a final decision on CBSE exams “very shortly and hopefully by tomorrow (June 24). The top court then deferred the hearing in the matter to June 25 at 2 pm.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday also heard a separate petition regarding the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE) amid the pandemic and posted the matter for hearing on June 25.
