Murdered father, daughter to be buried on Friday

A joint funeral for a murdered father and daughter will take place on Friday in Tunapuna.
Stephon and Aniah Mc Leod were shot on June 18, a short distance from Aniah’s home.
Police reported that a gunman got out of a car behind Mc Leod’s and opened fire, hitting the two. They were taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, where both died. The shooting took place around 7.30 pm.
On Tuesday a handful of protesters showed up outside City Gate in Port of Spain demanding justice for the murder of two-year-old Aniah. One protester, Laura Ortiz of Santa Cruz, said she joined in because she wanted justice to be done.
“I have children and grandchildren. I saw (a post advertising the rally on Facebook) and it really touched me. How could they do that to a little child?”
During the protest, organiser Jean Paul Cooper, leader of the group TT Unity Power (TTUP), said citizens need to unify against injustice in the country and that was the reason he arranged it.
“We cannot sit down on this one. We have lost enough and we are not willing to lose any more. We are totally fed up of all the unfavourable things happening in this country.”
The McLeods' funeral will be held at the Old Fashion Gospel Deliverance Temple, Fairley Street, Tunapuna.
