  • The court was told Taman-Adnum swerved at police vehicles during the pursuit

A man who stole a Woolworths delivery truck during a drug-fuelled rampage and led police on a four-hour chase has been jailed.

Jacob Nicolaas Taman-Adnum was high on ice when stole the five tonne Hino Pantec truck while the driver was delivery groceries to an address in Logan, Queensland, at 5pm on March 12.

The 30-year-old then led police on a four-hour chase through the town, where he swerved at cars and police vehicles, Quest Newspapers reported.

Taman-Adnum was 'driving on the kerb to evade police stingers, through bushland and gardens and backstreets', police prosecutor Sgt Donna Kay told the court on Wednesday.

Sgt Kay described the driving as significant and dangerous, adding it was one of the 'most serious examples I've come across'.

During the car chase, Taman-Adnum caused 'significant' damage to a police car he reversed into twice, before accelerating into a police blockade.

The pursuit continued and officers attempt to perform a 'rolling box' manoeuvre to stop Taman-Adnum, who began 'repeatedly swerving to the right and yelling at police'.

The truck was eventually intercepted at about 8.30pm and Taman-Adnum was taken into police custody.

He was jailed for 22 months for 17 offences, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and four charges of willfully damaging police property.

The 30-year-old was on parole at the time of offending and was also on bail.

On Wednesday, Taman-Adnum also faced charges for offences committed in February 2018 and on January 24, 2020.

These included possessing a knife in a public place, stealing, receiving tainted property, unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The court was told Taman-Adnum spent about two of the last two-and-a-half years in jail.

Defence lawyer David Gilmore said his client could have experienced a psychosis during the March 12 offence as he has 'limited recollection' of the car chase.

Instead of taking his prescribed mental health medication, Taman-Adnum had been using ice and amphetamines.

Mr Gilmore said his client's addiction spiraled when his mother - who he was living with - was transferred interstate for work in January.

Taman-Adnum will be eligible for parole on January 24, 2021.

He was also disqualified from driving for two-and-a-half years.
