PGA Tour golfer Cameron Champ has withdrawn from the Travelers Championship after testing positive for Covid-19 during pre-tournament screening on Tuesday.

According to a PGA Tour statement, the organisation confirmed that they will provide Champ with "full support throughout his self-isolation period under CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines". 

"I feel great physically and I was obviously surprised and disappointed to learn of the test result," said Champ.

"It's important now to take the necessary steps and measures to protect others, including my loved ones."

Champ, who has two PGA Tour titles to date, became the second PGA Tour player to test positive for coronavirus.

Last week, Nick Watney became the first golfer to test positive for Covid-19 since the PGA Tour's resumption after withdrawing from the RBC Heritage ahead of his second round.

According to Golf Week, Irish golfer Graeme McDowell withdrew from this week's Travelers Championship after his caddie Ken Comboy tested positive.

On Tuesday, McDowell played a practise round with Brooks Koepka, Chase Koepka and Shane Lowry. However, the report stated McDowell tested negative for coronavirus on Monday.

The PGA Tour revealed that they will release the testing results at the completion of the pre-tournament testing process on Wednesday.
