Noida: Traffic jams were again reported at the Noida-Delhi borders as Noida police intensified checking at the DND Flyway, Kalindi Kunj and Chilla regulator on Monday, following intelligence inputs of a possible terror attack in the national capital.
At the DND Flyway, stringent checking of vehicles resulted in long queues of vehicles on both sides of the border particularly during morning and evening peak hours — with Noida police controlling the entire Noida-Delhi traffic. Many commuters were sent back to Noida as well as Delhi by the cops as they did not have e-passes.
With the reopening of the borders, Delhi Police, which earlier used to man the other side, have been almost missing from the DND Flyway.
While there is no written relaxation on the border on any given day, checking is usually relaxed on Saturdays and Sundays due to low turnout of commuters and during non-peak hours on weekdays. But on Monday, there was stricter checking throughout the day.
Noida police officials said the checking was intensified all day long due to the terror inputs in Delhi.
“Suspicious vehicles were checked and drivers were asked to open the boots of their vehicles. Not only morning and evening rush hours, commuters were subjected to checking in the afternoon too,” additional DCP (Noida) Ranvijay Singh told TOI.
Intelligence agencies have reportedly alerted Delhi Police that four to five terrorists from Jammu and Kashmir are likely to enter the national capital via road using a bus, a car or a taxi with an intention to carry out a terror attack.
