Animal husbandry scam: Fugitive cop suspended in UP

LUCKNOW: A police head constable posted in Barabanki was suspended on Monday for his alleged involvement in the multi-crore animal husbandry contract racket.
SP Barabanki Arvind Chaturvedi told TOI that head constable Dil Bahar Yadav, 45, was suspended on the basis of a report of Lucknow police commissioner.
Yadav is accused of threatening to gun down Indore-based businessman Manjit Singh in a police encounter as well as holding him hostage. Singh was duped of Rs 9.7 crore after being promised a government contract worth Rs 292 core in the animal husbandry department.
Yadav has been absconding since his name surfaced in an FIR lodged on June 13 in connection with the scam. So far, the Special Task Force has arrested seven accused, including a Noida-based journalist Anil Rai; Rajneesh Dixit, private secretary to minister of state of animal husbandry; Dheeraj Kumar, a contractual grade IV employee; Ashish Rai, AK Rajeev, Rupak Rai and Uma Shankar Tewari in connection with the scam.
