MANGALURU: SSLC examination centres across Karnataka are all set to receive students a good 3-hour before the examinations start from 10.30am on June 25. With the examination of 3-hour duration scheduled to end on July 4, this early entry will help students identify their rooms in the respective centres with help of SMS sent to them earlier, settle in post the mandatory health check-up and write the same in proper frame of mind.
Early entry to the centres will also help maintain social distancing that is very much essential during the pandemic, minister for primary and secondary education S Suresh Kumar said. The number of notice boards giving details of examinations halls too will be increased and so will be the frequency of announcements over the PA system to guide the students on what they need to do, once they are inside the examination centres, the minister said.
In Malnad and coastal areas that are prone to heavy rains, the health check up will be moved indoors in case of heavy rains prior to the start of the examination. Students from other states and those from containment zones will be seated in separate rooms and so will be those students who have some health discomfort including cough, cold, fever. Arrangements to supply masks and sanitisers to students have already been made in advance, Suresh Kumar said.
As a precursor to verifying the arrangements made for the SSLC examination and detailed in SOP submitted to the Supreme Court and High Court, the board will hold a mock drill on June 24 from 11am to 2pm at the examination centres. This drill is open to parents and students who can personally satisfy themselves with the preparations made. Officials of various departments concerned too will be part of the mock drill, the minister said.
With additional centres identified for conduct of SSLC examination that involves more than 8-lakh students, Suresh Kumar said additional centres too have been identified and kept on standby for any exigency. No examination centre will function in containment zone and if any centre is brought under such zone at a later stage, such centres will be shifted to stand by centres. Prohibitory orders will be in force in 200metre radius of all centres, he said.
