A painter and decorator was found dead in his car in an "apparent act of self harm", an inquest has heard.

Stephen Kenneth Lloyd had been reported missing to North Wales Police hours before he was discovered at around 8.30pm on June 9.

Officers spotted his vehicle parked on Ruthin Road in Wrexham and found the 55-year-old, of Pont-ar-Afon, Penycae, Wrexham, dead inside.

They closed the road in both directions beside Bellvue Park while they carried out investigations at the scene.

At the opening of Mr Lloyd's inquest at County Hall in Ruthin on Tuesday, coroner for North Wales east and central John Gittins said he had been discovered "in circumstances indicating an apparent act of self harm" and appeared to have "self inflicted injuries evident on him".

A postmortem was carried out and a cause of death was deferred to full inquest pending toxicology results.

The hearing was adjourned to a date yet to be fixed.
