Patna. Preparations have started for the Assembly Election in Bihar. The main axis of the state's politics seems to revolve around the party of the present Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. Do you know that in the current politics of Bihar, Nitish and Lalu Yadav were very close friends of each other, against each other? Not only this, but it is also said that Nitish's role was the most important in making Lalu the Chief Minister of the state for the first time.

In the politics of Bihar, the political feud between Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar is getting increasingly hot, but there was a time when there was a discussion about Lalu Nitish's friendship. It had also come that Nitish had united with Sharad Yadav to make Lalu Yadav the chief minister. A true political story from the political corridor of Bihar, after listening to which one realizes that there was such a period of the friendship of Lalu Nitish?

Lalu's journey was not easy

The point is in the 1990s, the political circumstances of Bihar were changing rapidly. At that time, the situation had become such that after the demise of Karpoori Thakur, the leader who replaced him would be the frontrunner in the race for the post of Chief Minister. Lalu Prasad Yadav, who was moving fast in the politics of Bihar at that time, and his eyes were on the chair of the Chief Minister of Bihar. Either way, the leaders wanted to be the opposition, but that was not easy. Then the giants like Ram Sundar Das, Gajendra Prasad Himanshu, Raghunath Jha were also on the chair. All the leaders were lobbying in their own way.

MLAs celebrated for Lalu

When Lalu Yadav started his lobbying, 42 MLAs were needed to become the Leader of Opposition, but the circumstances were such that not a single MLA was in favor of Lalu. Then Sharad Yadav and Nitish Kumar joined the front for Lalu Yadav. Nitish Kumar and Jagadanand Singh started working day and night in a campaign to meet all the MLAs one by one and make them stand in Lalu's favor.

... then did this work for Lalu

Senior Bihar journalist Ravi Upadhyay says- Lalu Yadav wanted to be the leader of the opposition, but the MLA was not agreeing for him. Among the strongest contenders against Lalu were Yadav leaders like Anoop Lal Yadav, Gajendra Prasad Himanshu, who then had a good hold in the politics of Bihar. Then Sharad Yadav, who arrived in Patna from Delhi to make Lalu Yadav the CM, put Nitish Kumar and Jagdanand Singh on this campaign, but it was not so easy to become Lalu's CM. But, where was Nitish Kumar going to believe? In the procession with Lalu Yadav along with some pro-MLAs, the Vidyalaya Club would have come out on foot to seek support from the MLAs. Nitish was always around Lalu. It would have been a morning to evening to convince the MLAs in the MLA flat, but Nitish-Jagadanand Singh's team kept on campaigning.

Bihar responsible for Sharad Yadav

Ravi, who knows Bihar's politics closely, says that then the main architect Sharad Yadav who wanted to control the politics of Bihar according to himself. Lalu wanted to make Yadav the chief minister at any cost because Sharad felt that Lalu Yadav would govern according to his mind. Sharad Yadav was very close to the then Haryana Chief Minister Devi Lal and Devi Lal used to run a lot at that time because Devi Lal used to spend all the money to run the party. Devi Lal gave the responsibility of Bihar to Sharad Yadav and Sharad used to be in Bihar.

Nitish finally succeeded

Sharad Yadav wanted to make Lalu Yadav the Leader of Opposition and Chief Minister of Bihar. For this, he gave responsibility to Nitish Kumar and sang on Nitish Kumar and Jagdanand Singh Mission Lalu. Nitish Kumar also wanted Lalu Yadav to become the Chief Minister of Bihar so that Bihar development could happen at a fast pace. Ultimately, the campaign of Nitish and Sharad came and Lalu Yadav became the Leader of Opposition and later the Chief Minister.

Conflict in friendship

Ravi says that a confrontation between Nitish and Lalu began during the 1991 Lok Sabha elections. In the battle of Mandal and Kamandal, Lalu Yadav rode on the chariot of Mandal and got great success in the Lok Sabha elections. After that, Lalu sang as an ambassador and started ignoring Nitish and Sharad. Senior journalist Ravi Upadhyay says that if Lalu did not get a charioteer like Nitish Kumar in 1990, the chief minister's post would have been far-fetched for Lalu. Impressed by Nitish Kumar's image and his personality, many MLAs supported Lalu, but when Lalu started doing his mind and opposing some of his work, Lalu started to get angry when Nitish and George Fernandes started opposing him.

Distance between Lalu and Nitish

Ravi says that since 1991, the distance between Lalu and Nitish started increasing and two years later there was a huge Kurmi rally at Gandhi Maidan, which Nitish Kumar was not attending earlier. Then Lalu Yadav had asked Nitish Kumar to attend the rally. Satish Kumar was organizing that rally, but when Nitish Kumar attended the rally and saw a large crowd, he felt himself in Bihar.
