After yoga guru Baba Ramdev launched a coronavirus medicine kit claiming that it can cure the novel virus, Coronil started trending online.

Ayurvedic products giant Patanjali today launched a drug by the name Coronil. They claimed that it is an evidence-based medicine that treats Covid-19 caused by the novel coronavirus. They also said that it has a success rate of 100 per cent.

Yoga guru Swami Ramdev launched the medicine at a press conference at Patanjali's headquarter in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The research for the product was done by a joint team of Patanjali Research Institute (PRI) and the National Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Jaipur.

The medicine kit will be available online for Rs 545 and will include Coronil, Shwasari and Anu Tel.

The product has been manufactured by Divya Pharmacy of the Patanajli.

Talking about the medicine at the launch, Baba Ramdev said that the world has been eagerly waiting for a medicine to cure the novel virus. "Today, we are proud that we developed the first ayurvedic medicine for coronavirus. It has been named Coronil (sic)," he said.

The Yoga guru also revealed that they conducted a clinical study on 100 patients, out of which "65 per cent returned with negative test results within three days."

He added, "Hundred per cent patients got cured in seven days. We have prepared this medicine with adequate research. Our medicine has 100 per cent recovery rate and zero per cent death rate."

After Patanjali launched the product, AYUSH Ministry asked them to submit details such as the name and composition, research study details, Institutional Ethics Committee clearance, CTRI registration and result data of the medicine. They also asked Patanjali to refrain from advertising the medicine kit as Covid-19 cure till the claims are duly examined.
