PITTSBURGH, June 23, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Malfunctioning residential plumbing systems can lead to thousands of dollars in home repair and content replacement costs because of water damage. Thanks to the creative thinking of an inventor from Arlington, Texas, however, property owners can now take a proactive approach to prevent such devastation.

He developed a prototype for FLOOD PROTECTION SYSTEM (F P S) to alerts users to water leaks inside a house or other building. As such, it protects against flooding caused by such plumbing failure and prevents water damage to structures and their contents through an automatic shut off of the water source. Not only does it save considerable time, effort and expense, it is also versatile for use with any in-house plumbing configuration. In addition, it has the potential to reduce the number of flood/water damage insurance claims.

The inventor's personal experience inspired the idea. "My home was flooded several years ago due to a broken water pipe causing over $25,000 worth of damages," he said, "and I wanted to make sure that did not happen again."

The original design was submitted to the Dallas sales office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
