Mohali Covid tracker: 94% samples negative, 1.93% positive in 3 months

MOHALI: As many as 94.73% of Covid-19 samples have tested negative in the district that has a recovery rate of 68% as compared to 66% of Punjab, according to deputy commissioner Girish Dayalan on Monday.
“Out of 1,1459 samples tested since the last week of March, 10,856 were negative. Out of these, 222 (1.93%) had tested positive. The results of 381 (3.32%) people are awaited. The health department has done extensive sampling and contact tracing to combat coronavirus,” said the DC, adding the fatality rate is at a meagre 1.35%.
The district administration and the health department are conscious of the enormity of the situation unfolding and are taking effective steps to combat the pandemic, he said.
Mohali count is 222, with 68 active cases, 151 recoveries and three deaths.
The focus of the authorities is on extensive sampling in the high-risk areas besides contact tracing. As part of the strategy to contain the virus, random sampling is being done at the Chandigarh international airport, the DC said.
Awareness drives at regular intervals are also being undertaken in the district, especially in rural areas, to sensitise the people about the importance of wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and washing hands.
