BENGALURU: An 18-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly molesting a 40-yearold woman at Giddappa Block in RT Nagar on Saturday.
Santosh Kumar, a resident of Ganganagar and mineral water supplier, targeted the woman who was heading to a grocery shop at 12.10pm.
“We received information about the incident the same day but the woman had not come forward to file a police complaint. Bases on CCTV footage, we identified the woman and later took a complaint from her husband,” N Shashikumar, deputy commissioner of police (north), said.
The woman was walking alone on the roadside when the scooter-borne accused touched her inappropriately before speeding away.
Police traced Santosh Kumar based on the registration number of his vehicle. “Santosh Kumar claimed that it’s the first time he has committed such an offence and he just thought of playing mischief with the woman. But we’re verifying his claim. We request women to come forward and file a complaint against Santosh if they have been harassed by him,” the DCP said. Santosh’s Covid-19 test report is awaited.
