Coronavirus testing results from pop-up sites that were set up for people who attended recent demonstrations showed a relatively low positive rate.

Last week, Gov. Charlie Baker urged anyone who attended a large gathering in the last two weeks to get tested at one of the 50 locations that were set up.

Baker said Tuesday about 2.5% of the 17,617 tests came back positive. The governor added that the rate was relatively low, and pointed to the fact that people were wearing masks and they were outside.

A similar two-day test site run earlier this month by the city of Boston found fewer than 1% of people tested positive.

Experts say it may never be known what impact the protests have had on the virus' spread because the demonstrations started about the same time as businesses began reopening.
