Hemant appeals to MEA for repatriation of Bokaro man’s body from Dubai

Ranchi: Chief minister Hemant Soren requested Union minister for external affairs S Jaishankar on Monday to help bring back the body of Mohammad Zahid Akthar, a Bokaro native who passed away in Dubai. Akthar, who hailed from the Makhdumpur area in Bokaro, worked as a labourer in the Gulf and was killed in an accident a few weeks ago. Akthar’s family had appealed to the chief minister on Twitter to help them get his mortal remains.
Soren tweeted and sought the help of Jaishankar in the matter. He also directed Bokaro deputy commissioner Mukesh Kumar to approach the foreign ministry and provide the family members of the deceased all necessary support.
In another development, Soren directed health minister Banna Gupta and the Bokaro administration to make medical arrangements for a woman, Shaira Biwi, a Bokaro resident who was struggling to get proper treatment for lack of funds. Soren had come across a video highlighting Biwi’s condition. Soon after, the Bokaro DC tweeted that arrangements have been made at Rims in Ranchi for Biwi’s treatment.
