Coronavirus in Tamil Nadu: Death toll rises to 833, all but two districts report fresh cases

CHENNAI: As many as 39 Covid-19 patients died and 2,516 people tested positive in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. The death toll in the state reached 833 while the case tally rose to 64,603.
All districts, barring Tirupur and Ariyalur, recorded fresh cases on Tuesday.
Despite intensifying fever camps in Chennai and its neighbourhoods and relaxing rules for testing, the number of people tested for the viral infection came down to 23,921 on Tuesday from 29,963 on June 21 and 25,234 on June 22.
While Chennai added 1,380 positive cases, Chengalpet reported 146 cases while Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram logged 156 and 59 cases, respectively.
Madurai, where a complete lockdown will come into effect in the early hours of Wednesday, reported 137 cases. Theni reported 48 cases, Dindigul recorded 44 cases while Sivaganga registered 20 cases.
Tiruvannamalai reported 110 cases while Cuddalore recorded 29 cases.
Among people who died, three did not have any comorbidities.
